Overview
Welcome to New Staff Training!
We trust that the Lord will work through you in impactful ways as you answer His call. Whether you're just beginning your position or no longer feel quite "new" on staff, we hope this experience empowers you to:
- slow down and be known by the Lord;
- deepen your understanding of the Story of the Gospel of Jesus Christ;
- grow in your understanding of how to proclaim the gospel to adolescents;
- and build relationships across teams and contexts.
In your job, you will receive training on both the local and mission-wide levels. The Learning and Leadership department provides mission-wide learning experiences. By participating in these experiences, you will be introduced to people across the nation, who are embarking on the same exciting journey that you are. The fellowship and friendship that you will receive from your peers will greatly aid in your personal and professional growth in your years on staff.
New Staff Training registration begins May 1 for preregistered attendees; they must register by May 14 to secure their spot. Registration opens to all on May 15, closing May 31 or at max capacity, whichever is first.

Cost

The cost to attend is $1,800. This includes travel (up to $500 ), books, lodging, and food. Additional fees may apply for travel overages, late bookings, or caregivers (if applicable).

- The in-person intensive will be at Young Life's SharpTop Cove August 19-24, 2024.
- New Staff Training is a hybrid course, which means there is an online component in addition to the in-person intensive. Assignment details and due dates can be located within the Learning Online course beginning on July 1. The online component of the course will run from July 1 - October 1 and includes pre and post work. Please review the Coursework section for more information.
- You're required to attend two training webinars with Human Resources leading up to the in-person intensive. Each training will have two offerings, allowing you to choose the date that suits you best during registration. The first session will be offered on June 5 (3 PM CST) and 11 ( 11 AM CST). The second session will be offered on July 24 (3 PM CST) and 30 (11 AM CST). If circumstances such as summer assignments, camp trips, or other commitments prevent you from attending the trainings, please inform us, and we'll collaborate with you to fulfill this requirement.
- You will be assigned into a small group, where you will meet before, during, and after the intensive. Times and dates outside of the intensive will be determined by your leader. Your small group is just as important as the in-person intensive, so please protect this time.
